Do I need a degree or background in art or education to qualify?
Although a degree or background in art or education would be beneficial, it is not required. Many of our current franchisees had never facilitated an art experience prior to being a smART Explorers franchise owner. A prospective franchisee should have an entrepreneurial spirit, enjoy working with children, recognize the need for quality art education & enrichment and want to make a valuable contribution to their community.
Will I personally teach smART Explorers workshops?
We recommend every smART Explorers franchise owner gain experience in the field by facilitating some art experiences as this first-hand knowledge is beneficial when marketing your services to new customers within your territory. Our goal is that you will hire a staff of artists to facilitate your programs so that you can focus on growing your business.
Can I operate a smART Explorers franchise from my home?
A smART Explorers franchise is easily operated from within your home. As your business grows, you may feel it necessary to lease or purchase office space; however, that decision is yours to make when the time is right.
How much does a smART Explorers franchise cost?
- Domestic franchise fee - $19,500.00
- Royalty fee – 7% of Gross Sales
- Start-up costs - $6000-$8000

Does smART Explorers provide financing?
smART Explorers does provide in-house financing for up to 40% of the franchise fee at a competitive financing rate. Franchisees are expected to pay a minimum of 60% of the franchise fee upon execution of the franchise agreement.
What do I receive for the franchising fee and royalty?
